Hudson's doubles team of senior Nicci Polifrone and junior Sam Yurak had a short stay at the Northeast Ohio Division I district tennis tournament May 18 at Springside Racquet & Fitness Club in Akron.

The team lost to Avon Lake's duo of Aidan Shoop and Spencer Gray 6-4, 6-0 in the opening round and were eliminated.

Polifrone finished 25-5 on the season and Yurak finished 22-5.

"The match was flawed with uncharacteristic errors and the frustration of not playing our best at the district tourney," Explorers head coach Tim Morgan said. "Although it was not the outcome we wanted, I am proud of Nicci and Sam and their accomplishments this season.

"Congratulations to the entire hudson boys tennis team is in order. This young team, led by the lone senior starter in Nicci Polifrone, won the conference regular season and conference tournament.

"More importantly, they played as an enthusiastic group throughout the season. The future is bright with returning players Sam Yurak, David Tullett, Harrsha Congivaram, Rob Tobin, Wendell Wu, Spencer Rodgers and Kevin Si."
