The Hudson girls track and field team was in second place with 20 points after the first day of the Nordonia Division I district meet May 17 at Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.
The district meet was scheduled to conclude May 19.
Results were not available at press time.
The top four athletes in each event and top four relays advance to the regional competition, which is set to take place May 24 and 26 at Austintown-Fitch High School. The competition is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. both days.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Kalli Barrett, Grace Turner, Hannah Teed and Emily Akin advanced with a first-place time of 9 minutes, 38.95 seconds.
Brynn Meyer also advanced by winning the long jump on misses. She cleared a height of 5 feet, 2 inches.
Qualifying for the finals for the Lady Explorers were Tori Shriver in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles; Megan Boyda in the 100; the 800 relay team of Jenna Reitenbach, Amy Morris, Ang Giaimo and Brynn Strawbridge; the 400 relay team of Boyda, Guliana LaMarca, Abby Petty and Reitenbach; Akin in the 400; Leah Hartman in the 300 hurdles; Kalli Barrett and Teed in the 800; and the 1,600 relay team of Akin, Ashley Gorze, Hartman and Morris.
