Pioneer girls lax captures MSLA title

The Western Reserve Academy girls lacrosse team concluded its season with a Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association title.

The host Pioneers earned a 9-7 victory over Nichols (N.Y.) May 14.

Abby King had four goals and two assists and Mackenzie Farber contributed two goals and three assists for Reserve.

Chloe Beggs added two goals and one assist and Julia Gasbarre had one goal and one assist for WRA.

The host Pioneers posted a commanding 18-5 win over Notre Dame (Canada) May 13.

King had six goals and four assists and Gasbarre and Farber each had five goals and one assist.

Also contributing for Reserve were Beggs (one goal and two assists), Emily Smithberger (one goal) and Annemarie Bobinsky (one assist).

WRA finished 11-5 in 2017.
