The Hudson girls track and field team was in second place with 20 points after the first day of the Nordonia Division I district meet May 17 at Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.
The district meet is scheduled to conclude May 19 at 4 p.m.
The top four athletes in each event and top four relays advance to the regional competition, which is set to take place May 24 and 26 at Austintown-Fitch High School.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Kalli Barrett, Grace Turner, Hannah Teed and Emily Akin advanced with a first-place time of 9 minutes, 38.95 seconds.
Brynn Meyer also advanced by winning the long jump on misses. She cleared a height of 5 feet, 2 inches.
Qualifying for the finals for the Lady Explorers were Tori Shriver in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles; Megan Boyda in the 100; the 800 relay team of Jenna Reitenbach, Amy Morris, Ang Giaimo and Brynn Strawbridge; the 400 relay team of Boyda, Guliana LaMarca, Abby Petty and Reitenbach; Akin in the 400; Leah Hartman in the 300 hurdles; Kalli Barrett and Teed in the 800; and the 1,600 relay team of Akin, Ashley Gorze, Hartman and Morris.
