Relay, long jumper take 2nd at conference meet

The Hudson boys track and field team was in sixth place in the National Conference with 18 points after the first day of the Suburban League Championships May 9 at Nordonia High School's Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Blake Roberts, Dawson Wervey, Adam Beucler and Lucas Lay finished second with a time of 8 minutes, 9.68 seconds.

Also taking second was Greg Mailey in the long jump (20 feet, 5.5 inches).

Nathan Kravitz finished seventh in the pole vault with a vault of 12 feet.

Qualifying for finals were Maxwell Doyle in the 100, Dawson Wervey in the 400, Hunter Norman in the 300 hurdles and Mailey in the long jump.

The Suburban League Championships were scheduled to conclude May 11 at Boliantz Stadium. Results were not available at press time.

The Explorers are set to to compete at a Division I district meet May and 17 and 19 at Boliantz Stadium. The competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. both days.
