"We needed a big rebound after the loss to Hoover [12-11 May 5], Explorers head coach David Blue said. "The Preppers were bound and determined not to let that happen."
Anthony Rightnour led Hudson's offense with four goals and Widdoes and Brady Ludewig also scored for the Explorers.
Max Cole had two assists and Jack Burdett and Angelo Donatelli each had one assist for Hudson.
Explorers' goalies Stroud Corr and Matt Withem each made six saves in the cage. Miller and Withem received the game ball for their efforts.
Enrique Rodriguez scooped up five ground balls and Nathan Slater and Max Kleiman picked up two ground balls apiece.
"Matt had two big saves in the fourth quarter," Blue said. "Our defense played a much better game."
Hudson outshot University 31-30 and had a 36-22 advantage in ground balls. The Explorers, who had 16 turnovers compared to 10 giveaways for the Preppers (10-4), won just 6 of 19 face-offs.
