Reserve boys win 6th straight

The Western Reserve Academy boys lacrosse team's winning streak has now reached six.

The Pioneers improved to 10-5 on the season with a hard-fought 8-7 victory over Shady Side Academy May 5 in Pittsburgh.

Zach Mandry had three goals and Evan Bongers had two goals, one assist and four ground balls for Reserve.

Brett Erskine added a goal and two assists and Joseph Jordan scored once.

Andrew Boniface also scored for WRA and Ben Slotnik had an assist.

Pioneers' goalie Ben Kishore made seven saves, scooped up four ground balls and had one assist.

Reserve was scheduled to visit Olentangy May 9. Results were not available at press time.

Host WRA is set to conclude its season at the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association Tournament May 12 and 13.

The contests are scheduled to take place 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. May 12 and 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 13.

Also competing at the tournament are Cleveland St. Ignatius, Hunting Valley University, Upper Arlington, Dublin Jerome, Worthington Kilbourne, Thomas Worthington, Olentangy, Cincinnati St. Xavier, Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller, Mason, Cathedral (Ind.), Kiski (Pa.), Mount Lebanon (Pa.), Shady Side (Pa.) Academy and North Allegheny (Pa.).

Reserve girls

rout Avon Lake

The host Western Reserve Academy girls lacrosse team posted a commanding 18-7 victory over Avon Lake May 3.

Chloe Beggs had a career day with seven goals and one assist and Julia Gasbarre contributed four goals and two assists for the Pioneers (9-4).

Abby King also had four goals and Mackenzie Farber scored three goals for Reserve.

Emily Smithberger and Teagan Polak each had an assist for WRA.

Pioneers' goalie Brooke Barsella finished with six saves in the cage.

Reserve was scheduled to visit Hudson May 8 at Scott Malson Field. Results were not available at press time.

WRA is set to host the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association Tournament May 13 and 14.

The Pioneers are scheduled to play Notre Dame (Canada) May 13 at 11 a.m. They are set to play Nichols (N.Y.) May 14 at 9:30 a.m.
