Pioneer softball settles for draw

The host Western Reserve Academy softball team settled for a 13-13 draw with Shaker Heights Laurel May 3.

Laurel scored the tying run in the sixth. The Pioneers (5-3-1) scored five runs in the fifth inning.

Brooke Hovan had a double and Amy Kerr and Makena Hayes each had singles in the fifth for Reserve.

WRA had 18 hits. Laura Eldon had five hits and Hayes, Graicen Radel, Kianti Ruffin and Miranda Namiotka also had multiple-hit days at the plate for the Pioneers.

Reserve was scheduled to visit Andrews Osborne Academy May 8 in Willoughby. Results were not available at press time.

The Pioneers are set to conclude their season against Akron Garfield May 12 at the Summit Lake Community Center. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
