The Hudson High School girls track and field team lost its first dual meet of the 2017 season.
The Lady Explorers have not tasted defeat since.
Hudson won its sixth straight dual meet May 2. It also happened to be its sixth straight victory in the National Conference of the Suburban League. The Lady Explorers defeated Brecksville-Broadview Heights soundly, posting a 95-33 victory May 2 on the road.
Hudson dominated the Lady Bees in the track events, finishing first in six individual events. Junior Cameron Bujaucius was a double winner in individual track events for the Lady Explorers. She claimed victory in both the 1,600-meter race with a time of 5 minutes, 35 seconds and the 3,200 with an effort of 12:30.
Four other Hudson athletes captured individual track events. That quartet included juniors Jenna Reitenbach in the 100 (13.1), Bryn Strawbridge in the 200 (27.4), Emily Akin in the 400 (1:01) and Kalli Barrett in the 800 (2:34).
Two Lady Explorers placed first in individual field events.
Those two were sophomore Taylor Miller in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 4 inches and freshman Molly Stecker in the high jump with a height of 5-4.
In addition, Hudson notched first-place finishes in three relay races. One of those was the 400 relay with a time of 51.7. The members of that unit were senior Megan Boyda, senior Giuliana LaMarca, junior Abigail Petty and Reitenbach.
The Lady Explorers also prevailed in the 800 relay, posting a time of 1:48.7 in the process. Among the members of that contingent were Reitenbach, senior Amy Morris, junior Andrea Giaimo and Strawbridge.
Hudson also was victorious in the 3,200 relay in 9:57. That squad contained junior Hannah Teed, Barrett, Akin and junior Grace Turner.
With the win, Hudson finished the dual-meet portion of the season with a record of 6-1. The Lady Explorers also finished 6-1 in conference action.
