Five track and field athletes excel at Poland Invitational

The 22nd Poland Invitational Track and Field Meet was not completed April 29.Five members of the Hudson track and field teams placed in their events before the invitational was called off due to weather conditions.

Blake Roberts won the 3,200-meter race with a time of 9 minutes, 33.97 seconds. Jacob Russo finished eighth in the 3,200 in 9:50.88.

John Marcinkiewicz added a seventh in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 5 inches and Greg Mailey took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18-11.75.

On the girls' side, Brynn Meyer finished in a three-way tie for first in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.

Both teams were scheduled to run at Brecksville-Broadview Heights in a Suburban League National Conference showdown May 2. Results were not available at press time.

They are set to compete at the Woodridge Wrap-Up Meet May 6 in Peninsula. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
