The host Western Reserve Academy boys track and field team finished fifth with 33 points at the six-team Rollin Waite Freshman/Sophomore Invitational April 24. Solon won the competition with 144.5 points and Stow-Munroe Falls (132), Nordonia (120) and Walsh Jesuit (35) placed second, third and fourth, respectively. Also participating was Hunting Valley University (28.5).
Jack Sovich captured second in both the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 2 inches and the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.4 seconds to lead the Pioneers. He also finished fourth (17.6) in the 110 hurdles. Other athletes who placed in the top four for Reserve were Devin Dhaliwal in the 400 (fourth, 55.4) and Ken Fuchino in the 800 (fourth, 2:14.9).
WRA was scheduled to compete at the Cuyahoga Heights Relays April 29. Results were not available at press time. The Pioneers are set to conclude their season at the Pirate Relays May 5 at Perkins High School in Sandusky. The relays are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
