Hudson girls track and field wins fifth straight conference dual meet

After a slow start to the 2017 season, the Hudson girls track and field team is leaving a trail of victims in its wake.
The Lady Explorers notched their fifth consecutive dual-meet victory. This time, they got past Suburban League National Conference rival Wadsworth 79-58 April 25 on the road.
With the victory, Hudson improved to 5-1 in dual meets this season. The Lady Explorers also are 5-1 within the National Conference.
The Lady Explorers finished first in five individual track events. Displaying their considerable depth, five different Hudson athletes placed first in those events.
Leading the way was junior Jenna Reitenbach, who captured the 100-meter dash with a time of 13 seconds. In addition, junior Andrea Giaimo finished in first place in the 200 with an effort of 27.2.
Also claiming victory in individual track events for the Lady Explorers were juniors Emily Akin in the 400 (1:01.7) and Tori Shiver in the 100 hurdles (16.9) and freshman Leah Hartman in the 300 hurdles (49.5).
Two of Hudson teams also crossed the finish line in first place. Those squads were the 800 unit (1:48.1) and the 1,600 contingent (4:13.2).
The members of the 800 relay team were Reitenbach, senior Amy Morris, Giaimo and junior Bryn Strawbridge. The members of the 1,600 relay squad were Akin, junior Ashley Gorze, Hartman and Morris.
The Lady Explorers also excelled in the field events, recording three first-place finishes in individual events.
Accounting for those finishes were freshman Molly Stecker in the high jump (5 feet, 6 inches), sophomore Taylor Miller in the long jump (16-3) and senior Macy Lori in the pole vault (10 feet).
