Heading into April 26, the Hudson baseball team had a 1-3 record in conference games that have been decided by one run.
The Explorers still have a losing record in that category, but they broke a major hex.
Hudson earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wadsworth in eight innings at The Ballpark at Hudson.
With the win, the Explorers improved to 13-4 overall and 8-3 in the Suburban League National Conference.
As of press time, Nordonia had a 9-2 record in the National Conference. Hudson is scheduled to host the Knights April 28 at 7 p.m.
Bryce Kilfoyle reached on an error and eventually scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Right-hander Johnny Colesi pitched the final three innings to get the win. He allowed just one hit and improved to 3-0 on the season.
Starting left-hander Nolan O'Connell scattered four hits in five innings of work.
The Explorers finished with just three hits and had four errors. The Grizzlies committed three errors.
O'Connell had two hits and Grant Gedeon had a single for Hudson. Ryan Mitcheltree scored the Explorers' other run.
