The Hudson baseball team improved to 7-3 overall with a 10-3 victory over Shaker Heights April 15 on the road.
The Explorers took a 9-0 lead with four runs in the top of the first inning and five more in the second.
Despite its high run total, Hudson finished with just six hits. The Explorers committed one error.
The Red Raiders had six hits and one error.
Left-handed pitcher Nolan O'Connell got the win on the mound. He allowed two earned runs in three innings of work.
Johnny Merrill led Hudson's offense with two hits, including a double, two runs batted in and a run scored.
Seth Draper had a single, a stolen base and three RBIs and Spencer McClure had a double, an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base.
The Explorers stole eight bases.
Hudson improved to 3-2 in the Suburban League National Conference after posting a 2-1 victory over Stow-Munroe Falls in eight innings April 13 at The Ballpark at Hudson.
Both teams scored a run apiece in the second inning. The Explorers had four hits and one error and the Bulldogs had seven hits and three errors.
Right-hander Troy Brown got the win on the mound. He pitched all eight innings and finished with four strikeouts and two walks.
Bryce Kilfoyle had a single and a run scored for Hudson. Matt Friend also scored a run for the Explorers, who scored the winning run on an infield error with a runner on third base.
Hudson was scheduled to visit Stow April 17 before returning home to play National Conference rival Twinsburg April 18. Results of those games were not available at press time.
The Explorers are set to entertain National Conference foe Cuyahoga Falls April 19 before heading to Twinsburg April 20. Both varsity games are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
Hudson is set to host Suburban League crossover rival Copley April 21 at 7 p.m.
