WRA boys track and field finish runners-up at Gene Kobus Perry Relays

The Western Reserve Academy boys track and field team placed second with 73.5 points in the eight-team Division B competition at the Gene Kobus Perry Relays April 15.

Woodridge won the competition with 90 points and Painesville Harvey took third with 73 points.

The Pioneers had three winning relays. The shot-put duo of Wajdi Ahemed and Derrick Hampton won with a combined total of 84 feet, 10 inches. Ahemed had a throw of 49-.75. The discus duo of Ahemed and Hampton took first in the discus with a total measurement of 227-2.

Also winning was the long-jump relay of Jack Sovich and Robert Yang (35-9).

Shuttles: Isaiah Ezeoke, James Doh, Steven Majewski and Sovich, sixth, 1:14.6

High jump: Cole Howard and Israelson, sixth, 10-3

WRA is scheduled to compete at the East Palestine Relays April 21 at 4:30 p.m.

The Reserve girls finished sixth with 33 points in the eight-team Division B competition.

Woodridge won the competition with 99 points and Perry placed a close second with 98 points. Ashtabula Edgewood captured third with 56 points.

800: Zhou, Je, Ma and Randazzo, fifth, 1:58.82

Distance medley: Fu, Corl, Mairead Morrissey and Downing, sixth, 15:15.65

Sprint medley: Marcella Bangkong, Chan, Brent and Meimei Tannehill, sixth, 2:17.65

Long jump: Brent and Juliana Xie, sixth, 24-7.5

The Pioneers girls were scheduled to visit Shaker Heights Laurel April 18 at the Laurel Butler Campus in Russell. Results were not available at press time.

Reserve is set to compete at the Weingart Relays April 22 at Cleveland Heights High School. A starting time was not available at press time.
