The Hudson boys track and field team improved to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Suburban League National Conference after posting an 89-48 victory over host Cuyahoga Falls April 12 at the Laybourne Sports Complex.

"I was very happy with the team's performance," Explorers head coach Mark McConnell said. "The boys handled the away conditions well and a lot of guys got season-best marks.

"We got points from all areas of the team. I was very impressed with the team performance. The boys were focused and they did their best."

Greg Mailey won two events and was part of a first-place relay. Mailey won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 8 inches and took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.29 seconds.

Mailey joined Sam Durkin, Jack Sarkisian and Zack Rickey on the winning 400 relay team (46.5).

"I have been very pleased with the growth we have had in our areas of weakness," McConnell said. "All of the boys in those events are setting personal bests in each meet. We are now getting lots of points from those areas and as a result, we are winning some dual meets. It has been very impressive."

The Explorers were scheduled to compete at the Golden Eagle Elite Meet April 15 at GlenOak High School in Canton. Results were not available at press time.

Hudson is set to entertain National Conference rival Stow-Munroe Falls Aril 18 at Hudson Memorial Stadium. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
