Hudson volleyball suffers tough loss to Kent Roosevelt

The Hudson boys volleyball team fell to 0-2 on the season after suffering an 18-25, 25-17, 27-25, 7-25, 16-14 defeat to Kent Roosevelt April 5 at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.

Matt Gentry had 11 kills and four aces and Larry Meehan contributed 11 assists, five kills, four aces and three digs.

Libero Kellen McCabe had a 2.6 passer rating (3-point scale) and six digs and Shane Chilcott had nine blocks, four kills and three aces.

Also faring well for the Explorers (0-2) was Jan Dolkowski (five kills, four aces and three blocks).

Hudson suffered an 18-25, 25-19, 25-21, 26-24 defeat to Brecksville-Broadview Heights in its 2017 debut April 4 at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.

Meehan had 12 assists, three kills, three digs, two blocks and two aces and Gentry had 10 kills, an ace and a block to lead the Explorers.

Also contributing for Hudson were Mitch Gray (five kills and four blocks), Kolby Miller (five kills and a block) and Kyle Michl (11 assists and three digs).

The Explorers were scheduled to compete at the Polar Bear Tournament April 8 in Jackson Township. Results were not available at press time.

Hudson is set to host Brecksville-Broadview Heights April 11 before heading to Akron to play St. Vincent-St. Mary April 12. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
