The Hudson baseball team made an inauspicious Suburban League National Conference debut April 5.
The Explorers suffered a 1-0 loss to North Royalton on the road.
The Bears scored their only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Hudson (3-2, 0-1) finished with four hits and no errors. North Royalton had three hits and one error.
Right-handed pitcher Johnny Merrill (0-1) took the loss despite pitching six strong innings. He struck out three batters and issued three walks.
Hayden Knox had a double, which was the lone extra base hit for the Explorers. David Stewart went the distance on the mound for the Bears. He struck out five batters.
The Explorers are scheduled to visit National Conference rival Cuyahoga Falls April 10 at Water Works Park before making its home debut against the Black Tigers at The Ballpark at Hudson. First pitch both games is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
