The Hudson baseball team completed a successful trip to Destin, Fla., March 30.
The Explorers finished 3-1 after defeating Muscle Shoals (Ala.) 7-6. Hudson scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to win.
Hudson had nine hits and four errors and Muscle Shoals finished with six hits and four errors.
Right-hander Johnny Colesi pitched the seventh inning to get the win. He also had two hits, including a double, and two runs batted in at the plate.
Right-hander Johnny Merrill allowed four earned runs in 5-2/3 innings of work. He struck out seven batters and walked three. He allowed three hits.
Nolan Laughlin had two hits, including a double, three RBIs and a run scored.
Seth Draper added two hits and two RBIs and Stephen Bianconi had a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
The Explorers suffered a 10-3 defeat to Spring Hill (Tenn.) March 29.
Spring Hill had a 5-0 lead after two innings and put the contest away with five runs in the top of the sixth.
Right-hander Troy Brown took the loss on the mound. Draper finished with three hits and an RBI for Hudson.
The Explorers won two games March 28. They earned a 10-7 victory over Tipp City Tippecanoe and an 11-9 win over Carlisle in their season opener.
Against Tippecanoe, right-hander Isaac Wiley got the win. He allowed one earned run in 5-2/3 innings of work.
Wiley struck out six batters and walked three for Hudson, which scored three runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to take a 9-4 lead. The Explorers finished with 15 hits and four errors.
Leading Hudson's offense was Spencer McClure, who had three hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Grant Gedeon also had three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Merrill had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Hayden Knox finished with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.
Nolan Laughlin contributed two hits, including a double, and a run scored.
Against Carlisle, Hudson scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 11-5 lead. The Explorers had 13 hits and four errors.
Colesi, who entered the game in the fifth, got the victory in relief.
Draper had three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored and Bryce Kilfoyle finished with two hits, including a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Colesi added two singles and two RBIs and Matt Oscarson drove in two runs for Hudson.
The Explorers are scheduled to host Suburban League National Conference rival North Royalton April 4 before heading to North Royalton April 5. Both games are set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
