Hudson graduate Kyle Mau, a freshman on the Indiana University men's track and field team, recently was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year for his efforts during the indoor track season.

Mau is the fifth Indiana athlete to win Indoor Freshman of the Year and the first Hoosier to do so since 2010.

Mau earned All-Big Ten Honors at the Big Ten Championships as a member of Indiana's distance medley relay team.

The Hoosiers were in the lead when Mau got the baton. Mau ran the anchor leg and led Indiana to the win.

Mau also finished third in the individual mile run, collecting six points for the Hoosiers, who captured the Big Ten championship.
