Hudson junior Sam Karman concluded his season at the Division i district tournament Feb. 26 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes in Canton.
Karman finished 14th overall and eighth out of individuals not on advancing teams with scores of 234, 186 and 137, respectively, for a 557 series. The top six bowlers advanced to the state competition.
"He started out great and got some bad breaks the last game," Explorers head coach John Brockway said. "He ended up missing out on advancing to states by nine pins.
"He left three splits in the first four frames and then he got lined up. Unfortunately, he struck in the sixth frame, left a pocket four-nine split in the seventh, struck in the eighth, left a pocket seven-ten split in the ninth, then struck in the 10th frame.
"If he could have broken up one of those splits and picked up the spare, he would have been going to states.
"I'm proud of how he bowled and happy about his performance overall. He pushed through a few bad frames to bounce back and make some great shots to give himself a chance. Unfortunately, sometimes the pins just don't fall for you even when you roll a good shot."
