Narducci earns prestigious award

Former Hudson football coach Tom Narducci received a lifetime achievement award from the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Feb. 3 in Columbus.

Narducci, a 1968 graduate of Pittsburgh Central Catholic and a 1972 graduate of John Carroll University in University Heights, is the Explorers' all-time leader in wins.

Narducci led Hudson to a 96-70 record from 1995 to 2010.

He won the Western Reserve Conference South Division Coach of the Year in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and led Hudson to the state playoffs for the first time in 2002.

In 2003, the Explorers had their first undefeated regular season (10-0). Narducci was named the Associated Press Division I Coach of the Year in 2003. He also was awarded the humanitarian award by the Northeast Ohio National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame for his work with special needs' students as football managers.

Narducci, who earned a master's degree from John Carroll in 1976, began his coaching career as an offensive line and linebackers coach for Padua Franciscan High School in Parma for nine years. Padua was the state Class AAA runner-up in 1979.

Narducci also was the head coach at Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic from 1981 to 1993. He led Fremont St. Joseph to five straight Midland Athlete League Conference championships and to five state-playoff appearances. Narducci is a member of the Fremont St. Joseph Hall of Fame.

In 1993, Narducci became the defensive line and strength and conditioning coach at Ohio University in Athens. The Bobcats had one of the top-ranked defenses in the Mid-American Conference during Narducci's two years.

Narducci has been the head football coach at Fairview Park High School for the last six years. In 2011, he led Fairview to its first Patriot League Stripes Division title since 1953.

Narducci, whose overall record as a head coach is 2071-42-2, recently served as the president of the Greater Cleveland Football Coaches Association in 2015 and 2016.
