Pioneers fall to Rocky River

The Western Reserve Academy ice hockey team dropped to 6-15 overall after suffering a 7-2 defeat to host Rocky River Feb. 3 at Hamilton Ice Arena.

With the loss, the Pioneers finished 0-10 in the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League Red North Division.

Reserve trailed 3-2 late in the second period, but the Pirates took control from there.

Danny LaFontaine and Brett Erskine each had a goal for WRA. Pioneers' goaltender Nate Hopkins made 40 saves.

Reserve is scheduled to play Shady Side (Pa.) Academy Feb. 18 at Center Ice in Canton. Play is set to begin at 8:40 p.m.
