The host Hudson boys bowling team improved to 7-4 overall and 7-3 in the Suburban League after posting a 2,587-2,539 victory over Theodore Roosevelt Jan. 25 at the Sto-Kent Family Entertainment Center in Stow.
"It was a big win for our boys," Hudson head boys and girls coach John Brockway said. "They bowled their best scores of the year and beat a pretty tough Kent team. It was actually the highest score I can remember us ever bowling in a match.
"It was an exciting match and close throughout. Our boys really came together and picked each other up."
The Lady Explorers dropped to 1-9 overall and 1-8 in the league after losing 2,132-1,740.
The Hudson boys won two of the three Baker games and outscored the Rough Riders 587-562 in the Baker games.
The Explorers rolled six 200-plus games. Leading the way was Andrew Brechtelsbauer, who rolled games of 218 and 209, respectively.
Rhami Shiyab was next with games of 187 and 222 and Noah Twigg rolled scores of 212 and 191.
Sam Karman had the high game (241). He also bowled a score of 146. Joseph Horsch rounded out the team scores with games of 170 and 204.
Despite the loss, the Hudson girls posted their best score of the season.
Jackie Smith led the way with games of 146 and 159. Also competing for the Lady Explorers were Alyssa Germano (158 and 110), Gina Grimaldi (117 and 150), Katie Titmas (153 and 89) and Lauren Malaska (100 and 105).
The Hudson boys junior varsity team earned a 1,663-1,623 win. Andrew Fernando led the Explorers with scores of 145 and 135.
All three teams are scheduled to entertain Suburban League rival Stow-Munroe Falls Feb. 7 at SKFEC. Bowling is set to begin at 4:15 p.m.
