WRA girls remain perfect in the pool

The Western Reserve Academy girls swimming and diving team remained unbeaten.

The Pioneer girls improved to 7-0 after earning a 101-85 victory over Twinsburg Jan. 21 on the road.

The Reserve boys fell to 5-3 after losing 128-58.

The following WRA relays won and the following Pioneers placed in the top three in their respective events:

200-yard medley relay: Katie Weinzierl, Libby Russ, Megan Tam and Stephanie Wong, first, 2 minutes. .26 seconds

200 freestyle: Wong, first, 2:05.26

200 individual medley: Tam, first, 2:26.84; Weinzierl, second, 2:31.36; and Avery Brewer, third, 2:48.63

50 freestyle: Adjoa Tettey-Fio, second, 28.07; and Alicia Ma, third, 28.38

100 butterfly: Tam, first, 1:05.57

500 freestyle: Wong, first, 5:32.68

200 freestyle relay: Tettey-Fio, Ma, Russ and Corl, first, 1:52.14

100 backstroke: Weinzierl, first, 1:06.64

100 breaststroke: Russ, second, 1:17.63; and Mairead Morrissey, third, 1:29.43

400 freestyle relay: Weinzierl, Tettey-Fio, Wong and Tam, first, 3:57.4


200 IM: Kevin Escott, first, 2:19.41

* 50 freestyle: Will Downing, second, 25.07

Diving: Jack Sovich, second, 185.2 points; and Blake Birch, third, 135.15

100 butterfly: Jaret Skonieczny, second, 1:00.76

100 freestyle: Jaxson Bick, third, 1:00.7

100 backstroke: Phillip Kuri, third, 1:06.26

100 breaststroke: Escott, third, 1:13.01

Both teams are scheduled to host Canton Central Catholic Jan. 25 at 4:30 p.m. They are set to entertain Nordonia Jan. 28 at 1 p.m.
