WRA clubs pick up home wins

The host Western Reserve Academy girls and boys swimming and diving teams posted victories Jan. 17.

The Pioneer girls earned a 110-71 win over Shaker Heights Laurel to improve to 6-0 and the Reserve boys edged Cleveland Benedictine 98-85 to move to 5-2.

The following WRA relays won and the following Pioneers placed in the top three in their respective events:

200-yard freestyle: Megan Tam, first, 2 minutes, 12.01 seconds

200 individual medley: Stephanie Wong, first, 2:22.98; and Katie Weinzierl, second, 2:28.35

50 freestyle: Elizabeth Downing, second, 26.77; and Alicia Ma, third, 27.93

Diving: Olivia Chan, second, 1:31.35 points

100 butterfly: Tam, first, 1:07.41; and Katie Elkind, second, 1:12.96

100 breaststroke: Libby Russ, first, 1:20.16

400 freestyle relay: Tam, Wong, Weinzierl and Elizabeth Downing, first, 3:57.42


200 freestyle: Jaret Skonieczny, third, 2:15.28

200 IM: Will Downing, first, 2:25.57; Phillip Kuri, second, 2:35.31; and Charlie Moffa, third, 2:36.74

50 freestyle: Jaxson Bick, third, 25.84

Diving: Jack Sovich, first, 202.4; Tommy Awender, second, 144.45; and Blake Birch, third, 140.25

100 butterfly: Skonieczny, second, 1:01.55

100 freestyle: Kevin Escott, first, 54.5; and Colton Zampelli, third, 57.19

500 freestyle: Josh Rogers, second, 5:47.16; and Will Downing, third, 6:07.48

100 backstroke: Kuri, second, 1:06.53; and Rogers, third, 1:08.02

100 breaststroke: Escott, first, 1:12.67

400 freestyle relay: Bick, Kuri, Skonieczny and Escott, first, 3:49.21

Both teams were scheduled to visit Twinsburg Jan. 21. Results were not available at press time. They are set to entertain Canton Central Catholic Jan. 25 at 4:30 p.m.
