WRA girls beatLinsly in the pool

The host Western Reserve Academy swimming and diving teams hosted the Interstate Preparatory School League Meet Jan. 13.

The Pioneer girls earned a 106-64 victory over Linsly (W. Va.) and the Reserve boys defeated Kiski (Pa.) 101-90 and lost to Linsly 117-101.

The following WRA individuals placed in the top three in their respective events and the following Reserve relays won:

Girls

200-yard medley relay: Katie Weinzierl, Libby Russ, Megan Tam and Elizabeth Downing, first, 2 minutes, .68 seconds

200 freestyle: Stephanie Wong, first, 2:04.81; and Elizabeth Downing, second, 2:12.24

200 individual medley: Tam, first, 2:25.28

50 freestyle: Adjoa Tettey-Fio, first, 27.53; and Alicia Ma, second, 28.64

Boys

200 freestyle: Jaret Skonieczny, second, 2:14.41

200 IM: Kevin Escott, first, 2:19.25

50 freestyle: Will Downing, third, 25.16

100 butterfly: Skonieczny, second, 1:01.33

500 freestyle: Josh Rogers, second, 5:45.4; and Phillip Kuri, third, 5:54.51

100 backstroke: Kuri, third, 1:06.35

100 breaststroke: Escott, second, 1:11.61

400 freestyle relay: Will Downing, Skonieczny, Kuri and Escott, first, 3:47.92

The boys were scheduled to entertain Cleveland Benedictine and the girls were set to host Shaker Heights Laurel Jan. 17. Results were not available at press time.

Both teams are set to visit Twinsburg Jan. 21 at 4 p.m.

Antonio wins

Hudson graduate Leighton Antonio, a junior on the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team, won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.92 seconds at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational, which concluded Jan. 14 in Ann Arbor.
