The Hudson girls volleyball team is running out of players.
Fortunately for the Lady Explorers, they're not out of matches yet.
Fourth-seeded Hudson improved to 9-13 with a lopsided 25-6, 25-7, 25-6 victory over Akron East in a Stow Division I sectional semifinal contest.
The match took place Oct. 18 at Stow-Munroe Falls High School's James G. Tyree Gymnasium.
With the win, the Lady Explorers earned a date with Kent Roosevelt, a 25-14, 25-12, 25-23 winner over Akron Firestone, in a sectional title contest Oct. 20 at 5:30 p.m.
Hudson did not have outside hitter Emily Warfield, setter Lorenza Chiarappa and libero Kendall Mackay in its lineup because of injuries.
Thankfully, the Lady Explorers handled themselves well without them.
Regina Alvarez had a huge night for Hudson. She finished with 21 service points, including five aces, 10 digs and six kills.
Lindsay Sadler added a match-high 22 service points, including a match-high seven aces, and 24 assists and Alena Madar finished with 10 service points, including four aces, and 16 digs for the Lady Explorers.
Also contributing for Hudson were Madison Topczewski (nine kills and three digs) and Dani Turner (five kills and four aces).
