Waldeck gets hat

trick for Michigan

Western Reserve Academy senior forward Nicky Waldeck scored all three goals during the University of Michigan women's soccer team's 3-2 double-overtime victory over Rutgers (N.J.) University Oct. 1 in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Waldeck scored the game-winning goal in the 104th minute. It was Waldeck's second hat trick of her career.

WRA volleyball wins

third straight match

After a brutal start, the Western Reserve Academy volleyball team had a three-match winning streak as of press time.

The Pioneers got their latest win in Cleveland. Reserve posted a 25-20, 19-25, 25-22, 26-24 victory over John Adams. With the win, the Pioneers improved to 4-11.

Reserve was scheduled to visit Cornerstone Christian Academy Oct. 4 in Willoughby. Results were not available at press time. WRA is set to visit Our Lady of the Elms Oct. 6 in Akron. Play is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The Pioneers are set to host Garfield Heights Oct. 8 at 2:30 p.m.

Get Hall of Fame tickets for wrestling

Local residents who wish to buy tickets for the Ohio chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's induction dinner can do so online at www.oh-nwhof.ticketleap.com.

Longtime Greenmen wrestling coach Dick Bliss, who recently announced his retirement, will be honored at the Oct. 16 event at the Embassy Suites in the Columbus suburb of Dublin. A social is set to begin at 2 p.m., with dinner scheduled to be served at 3, followed by the inductees presentations.

Tickets cost $50 per person and must be purchased by Oct. 7.
