If things were to fall apart down the stretch, the Western Reserve Academy would still finish the 2016 season with a winning percentage of close to 55 percent.
Such a percentage probably isn't what the Pioneers have in mind when they eventually put their golf clubs away for the season.
That's because Reserve was undefeated as of press time.
WRA improved to 11-0 with a commanding 164-216 victory over Cleveland Benedictine Sept. 16 at Fowler's Mill Golf Course in Chesterland.
Zach Mandry led the Pioneers with a score of 39 to earn medalist honors.
His teammate, Emily Root, was just one shot behind with a 40. Also contributing to Reserve's team score were Paul Schumacher (41) and Michael Pamer (44).
On Sept. 15, WRA earned a 154-171 win over Beachwood at Brandywine Golf Course in Peninsula.
Mandry received medalist honors after shooting a 34 and Schumacher shot a 35.
Root (42) and Ben Kishore (43) also contributed to the Pioneers' team score.
Reserve was scheduled to play Parma Padua Franciscan Sept. 19 and Lake Center Christian (Hartville) Sept. 20 at Lake Forest Country Club. Results of those matches were not available at press time.
WRA is set to play Solon Sept. 21 at the Signature of Solon Golf Course, Shaker Heights Sept. 22 at Shaker Heights Country Club and Elyria Catholic Sept. 23 at Lake Forest. All three matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The Pioneers are set to play in the Aurora Invitational Sept. 25 at Barrington Country Club. Play is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
