Volleyball squad

picks up second win

The Western Reserve Academy volleyball picked up its second win of the season at the Ellet Tournament Sept. 17 in Akron.

The Pioneers finished 1-2 at the tournament.

Reserve's lone win was a 25-19, 25-17 victory over Akron Kenmore.

Madison Lin had 10 service points and Alison Weinzierl had six kills and five aces for WRA (2-11).

The Pioneers also lost to Akron Springfield (25-14, 25-14) and Ellet (25-15, 25-20).

Reserve's junior varsity team posted a 25-8, 25-15 win over Kenmore.

The JV squad also lost to Springfield (24-26, 25-11, 25-11) and Ellet (25-22, 25-18).

WRA also lost a heartbreaking 25-20, 15-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-12 decision to Garfield Heights.

That contest took place Sept. 15 on the road.

The Pioneer JV squad lost 25-8, 25-20.

Reserve's varsity team is scheduled to host Hearts for Jesus Christ (North Olmsted) Sept. 24 at 3 p.m.
