WRA boys place
third at McDonough
The Western Reserve Academy boys cross country team placed third with 86 points in the 15-team varsity Blue Division at the McDonough Invitational Sept. 17 in East Cleveland.
University (Hunting Valley) won the competition with 47 points and Oberlin Firelands took second with 70 points.
Pioneer senior Danny Mylott finished first out of 89 runners with a time of 17 minutes, 30.2 seconds.
Senior teammate Cole Howard captured third in 17:59.9. Rounding out the top five for Reserve were junior Sammy Bluso (19th, 18:59.8), senior Ian Israelson (31st, 19:50.7) and junior Kristopher Mallett (33rd, 20:03.6).
WRA is scheduled to run in the Sandy Valley Invitational Sept. 24 in Sandy Township. Racing is set to begin at 9:40 a.m.
Polifrone wins three
Hudson graduate Dominic Polifrone, a sophomore on the Baldwin Wallace (Berea) men's tennis team, and his partner Matt Harris earned 8-3 and 8-2 victories in doubles' play at the Oberlin College Invitational, which concluded Oct. 18 at the Don Hunsinger Tennis Courts.
Polifrone also finished 1-1 in singles' play.
He earned a 7-6, 4-6, 10-5 win in his first match.
