Stow-Munroe Falls head girls soccer coach Nate Rausch wasn't necessarily happy with his team Sept. 21.
Then again, neither was Hudson head coach Chris Gentille.
In their first Hudson-Stow rivalry game against each other, the two coaches saw their squads play to a 1-1 draw at Bulldog Stadium.
Hudson moved to 5-3-2 overall and 2-0-2 in the Suburban League National Conference, while Stow moved to 5-1-2 overall 1-1-1 in the conference.
Both teams had early chances, as Stow was able to work its possession game in the first half.
However, it was Hudson that struck first. In the 15th minute, a nice passing sequence led to Jordan Manley hitting a cross into Stow's box. Freshman Mia Becker made a well-timed run to the back post and put the ball home to make it 1-0.
After the goal, Stow pushed forward and spurned a couple of chances before finding the equalizer in the 28th minute.
A perfect through ball from Stow junior Alyssa Kuntz split Hudson's defense open, allowing Elyse Casalinova to run onto it. Casalinova evaded Hudson goalkeeper Lilly Morgan and put the ball into the open net to make it 1-1.
Stow had a chance to take the lead early in the second half, only to be denied on a brilliant double save by Morgan. Morgan finished with four saves on the night, as Stow finished with a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
Hudson pushed up its defensive line in the second half and the ball stayed in Stow's end most of the second half.
However, the Lady Explorers could not find a way past Stow keeper Amanda Holocker in the second half. Holocker finished with three saves.
