Hudson girls tennis team earns three victories

The Hudson girls tennis team improved to 9-5 overall and 5-0 in the Suburban League National Conference after posting a 5-0 victory over Wadsworth Sept. 14 on the road.

Molly Sandberg remained unbeaten in 2016 with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles. Grace Graham also had little trouble at second singles. She posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Isabelle Mawby had a little bit of trouble, but she prevailed with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 win at third singles.

The Lady Explorers' first doubles teams of Jenny Gan and Susie Fan won 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.

Their second doubles team of Madeline Elliott and Istabraq Dalieh (7-5, 4-6, 6-4) also earned a hard-fought victory.

Host Hudson earned a 3-2 victory over backyard rival Western Reserve Academy Sept. 13.

Sandberg (16-0) earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at first singles for the Lady Explorers.

Hudson's doubles' teams of Gan and Fan (6-0, 6-1) and Elliott and Dalieh (6-3, 7-6) also won.

The Pioneers' victories came from Alicia Ma (7-5, 7-5) and Lydia Peercy (6-4, 6-2) at second and third singles, respectively.

The Lady Explorers continued their dominance in Suburban League National Conference play with a 5-0 victory over Twinsburg Sept. 12.

Sandberg (6-0, 6-1), Grace Graham (6-0, 6-1) and Isabelle Mawby (6-0, 6-2) dominated in singles' play.

The Lady Explorers' doubles teams of Fan and Gan (6-1, 6-4) and Dalieh and Elliot (6-4, 6-2) also had little trouble.

Hudson was scheduled to host Westlake Sept. 16. Results were not available at press time.The Lady Explorers are set to visit Walsh Jesuit in a Northeast Ohio Tennis Association match Sept. 20 before heading to Cuyahoga Falls for a National Conference showdown Sept. 21. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
