The Western Reserve Academy football team is 3-0 for the first time since 2005 after posting a convincing 47-20 victory over Mathews Sept. 9 in Vienna.

WRA's offense finished with 367 yards on the ground and six rushing touchdowns.

Dakota Gibbons led the Pioneers' ground attack with 222 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and Jayden Demmy had 103 yards and three scores on 13 carries.

Freshman Cooper Parrot capped the scoring on the night with his first career touchdown on an 8-yard carry.

The defense shut down the Mustangs' offense that had scored 40-plus points in its first two games by forcing four turnovers.

Senior Michael Malen broke any momentum that Mathews had with a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown with one minute before halftime just after the Mustangs scored their first touchdown.
