WRA boys finish
sixth in Elyria
The Western Reserve Academy boys cross country team finished sixth with 189 points in the 17-team Gold Division of the Avon Lake Early Bird Meet Sept. 3 at Lorain County Community College in Elyria.
Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary easily won the competition with 35 points and Fairview Park (76) and Oberlin Firelands (118) placed second and third, respectively.
St. Vincent-St. Mary's Alex Phillips finished first out of 122 runners with a time of 16 minutes, 48 seconds.
Cole Howard led the Pioneers with a 12th-place time of 17:48.7.
Rounding out the top five for Reserve were Sammy Bluso (31st, 18:49.2), Ian Israelson (41st, 19:08.2), Will Downing (51st, 19:41.3) and Sasha Davis (62nd, 20:11.4).
WRA was scheduled to compete at the Tiffin Invitational Sept. 10 at Hedges-Boyer Park. Results were not available at press time.
The Pioneers are set to run at the McDonough Invitational Sept. 17 at Forest Hill Park in East Cleveland. The competition is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
Kent State needs
Kent State University is accepting teams in the following recreational sports leagues: basketball, men's Friday night; and volleyball, co-recreational Sunday night.
