Hudson duo excels

Pony Club event

Lauren Mansky, an eighth-grade student at Hudson Middle School and Ryleigh Brown, a junior at Hudson High School, qualified and competed at the United States Pony Club Championships East July 27 to 31 at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, N.C.

Mansky competed in the dressage portion,on her pony Daisy. Mansky led her team a first-place overall finish .

She also led her team to a second place in horse management.

She also finished second individually out of 40 participants and third for her dressage freestyle.

Brown competed in the Large Pony Show Jump division, on her pony Sheza lil Lady. She led her team to second place overall and a first in horse management.

Mansky and Brown represented Bath Pony Club and the Tri-State Region Pony Club.

Pioneer hockey routs Orange

The host Western Reserve Academy field hockey team improved to 2-2 on the season after posting a lopsided 8-0 victory over Orange (Pepper Pike) Sept. 7.

Julia Gasbarre had three goals and Tia Forsyth had two goals and three assists to lead the Pioneers.

Alice Wu, Annemarie Bobinsky and Avery Brewer each scored one goal for Reserve and Chloe Zampelli and Haley Myers each had one assist.

WRA was scheduled to visit Kent Roosevelt Sept. 8. Results were not available at press time.

The Pioneers are set to visit Stow-Munroe Falls Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m.
