Doggie Dash coming

One of A Kind Pet Rescue is scheduled to host the Chase Your Tail 5K Run/Walk and the 1-mile Doggie Dash Oct. 16.

Part of the Ohio Challenge Series, this event has two options: a 5K run/walk timed by RS Racing Systems, or a 1-mile non-timed walk. Racers can participate in any of the events with their dog. The races begin and end at Summit Lake Community Center and are set to be run on both the road and the Towpath, taking participants on the floating Towpath Trail across the middle of Summit Lake.

This event benefits One of A Kind Pet Rescue, a no-kill, no time-limit shelter whose mission is to save the lives of animals in imminent danger of euthanasia and enrich the lives of people through rescue, spaying/neutering, adoption and advocacy on behalf of homeless pets.

Register at www.oneofakindpets.com/5k with a credit card. Early registration by Oct. 1 is $30, preregistration through Oct. 14 is $35, and race day registration is $40. Race-day registration and packet pickup is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. at Summit Lake Community Center, 380 W. Crosier, Akron.
