In its first-ever meeting with a legendary Stark County powerhouse, the Hudson football team came out smoking.
Sadly, the flame died out rather abruptly.
The Explorers fell to 2-1 on the season after losing to Canton McKinley 51-24 Sept. 9 at Hudson Memorial Stadium.
After the first quarter, Hudson had a 16-0 lead. The Bulldogs dominated the rest of the way.
By halftime, McKinley had a 17-16 advantage and was up 31-24 at the end of three quarters.
The Bulldogs dominated the final 12 minutes to put it away.
McKinley quarterback Dominique Robinson completed 10-of-22 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 130 yards and a score in 14 attempts.
Javon Lewis ran for 82 yards on 21 carries and De'Shawn White caught five passes for 182 yards for the Bulldogs. White had TD receptions of 63, 30 and 65, respectively.
Explorers quarterback Jackson Parker completed 10-of-18 passes for 116 yards. He threw a 61-yard TD pass to Greg Mailey and a 25-yard scoring pass to Colton Paltani.
Mailey finished with three receptions for 72 yards.
