Hudson worth noting

WRA golfers roll

The host Western Reserve Academy golf team improved to 6-0 on the season after posting a 166-187 victory over Shaker Heights Sept. 2 at Lake Forest Country Club.

Paul Schumacher led the Pioneers with a score of 36. Also contributing to Reserve's team score were Emily Root (42), Michael Pamer (44) and Zach Mandry (44).

WRA is scheduled to play Parma Padua Franciscan Sept. 7 at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Medina. Play is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.

The Pioneers are scheduled to return to Lake Forest to play Solon Sept. 9 at 4 p.m.

Reserve girls fall

The host Western Reserve Academy girls tennis team dropped to 1-2 on the season after losing to Laurel (Shaker Heights) 4-1 Sept. 1.

Alicia Ma was the Pioneers' lone winner. She posted a 6-2, 7-5 victory at third singles.

Reserve was scheduled to visit Magnificat Sept. 6 in Rocky River. Results were not available at press time.

WRA is set to visit Notre Dame Cathedral Latin Sept. 7 in Chardon before returning home to play Green Sept. 9. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Hudson hockey wins

The host Hudson field hockey team improved to 3-0 on the season after posting a 3-1 victory over North Allegheny (Pa.) Sept. 3 at Hudson Memorial Stadium.

Hannah Yard scored twice for the Lady Explorers and Sarah Keller added one goal.

Hudson is scheduled to entertain Stow-Munroe Falls Sept. 8 at 4:30 p.m.

Yankees offer tryout

The Ohio Yankees baseball team is scheduled to offer a tryout for age 13-and-younger players Sept. 25 at Barlow Parks Field D in Hudson from 1 to 3 p.m.

Players must be 13 years or younger by May 31, 2016.
