Staff report

The Hudson boys golf team earned a 168-171 victory over Nordonia in its Suburban League National Conference debut Aug. 25 at Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club.

Will Kurtz led the Explorers with a score of 35 to earn medalist honors. Teammate Nolan Laughlin was next with a score of 39.

Jake Vetrovsky led the Knights with a score of 38.

Although he'll take the win, the performance wasn't too pleasing to Hudson head coach Dave Kurtz's eyes.

"We have too many guys who have no idea where the ball is going to go," he said. "Until our fundamentals improve, we will be inconsistent at best."

Nonetheless, Dave Kurtz hasn't lost hope in his team.

"I have no doubt that the boys will continue to work hard and they will get it figured out," he said.

The Explorers are scheduled to host National Conference rival North Royalton Aug. 31 at the Country Club of Hudson. Play is set to begin at 3:15 p.m.

Hudson is scheduled to visit Cuyahoga Falls Sept. 1 at Brookledge Golf Club. Play is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
