WRA girls distance team places seventh at Avon Lake meet

The Western Reserve Academy girls cross country team placed seventh with 148 points in the 13-team Gold Division of the 2014 Avon Lake Early Bird Meet Aug. 30 at Lorain Community College in Elyria.

Parma Padua Franciscan won the competition with 42 points and Cleveland Heights Beaumont (82) and Independence (98) finished second and third, respectively.

Padua's Jaimie Adams placed first out of 93 runners with a time of 20:51.

Elizabeth Downing led the Pioneers with an 18th-place time of 23:27.6.

Rounding out the top five for Reserve were Nina Tekelenburg (22nd, 23:39.9), Irina Kopyeva (32nd, 24:44.5), Catherine Berry (33rd, 24:58.4) and Molly Hulver (43rd, 25:57.4).
