The Hudson boys lacrosse team's glorious 2014 season came to end June 4.
The Explorers finished 15-5 after losing a 14-10 decision to Upper Arlington in an Ohio High School Lacrosse Association Division I semifinal game at Denison University's Deeds Field in Granville.
The Golden Bears, who have won 14 state titles, improved to 20-2.
Hudson took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, thanks to goals by Mick Mougey, Gabe Vehar and Bo Lori.
But Upper Arlington took control in the second quarter.
Cam Marsh had three goals and Justin Wick and Danny Logan each had a goal as the Golden Bears took a 5-4 lead at halftime.
Upper Arlington never relinquished its advantage the rest of the way.
Lori, who briefly had to leave in the game after injuring his knee in the fourth quarter, led the Explorers with three goals and two assists.
Vehar and Mougey each had two goals and Chris Motter had one goal, 16 ground balls. He also won 17 of 25 face-offs.
All told, Hudson won 19 of 27 face-offs.
Kyle Ator had one goal and one assist and Sam Gregory scored once for the Explorers.
Marsh led the Golden Bears with four goals and Justin Wick and Danny Logan each had three goals.
Kyle Roberts added two goals for Upper Arlington and Max Rankin and Jack Pardi each had one goal.
Hudson had a 38-24 advantage in ground balls. The Golden Bears outshot the Explorers 40-30.
Hudson goalkeeper Jake Krone made 11 saves.
