Hudson boys lacrosse team reaches regional title game

The host Hudson boys lacrosse team reached the Division I Northeast/Northwest Region title game after posting a 13-6 victory over Massillon Jackson May 29 at Hudson Memorial Stadium.

With the win, the second-seeded Explorers (14-4) earned a date with top-seeded Solon in the Northeast/Northwest regional championship game May 31 at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in Cuyahoga Falls. Results were not available at press time.

Hudson lost a 15-14 decision to the Comets earlier in the season. It was the Explorers' second win against the Polar Bears.

They earned an 11-5 victory over Jackson April 11.

The winner of that game earns a date in the state semifinals June 4.

Gabe Vehar finished with three goals and two assists and Zach Nye had three goals to lead Hudson, which has won seven straight matches.

Bo Lori and Brent Zubal added two goals apiece for the Explorers and Mick Mougey had one goal, five assists and six ground balls.

Grant Elffers had one goal and two assists and Reid Robinson scored once for Hudson. Chris Motter added an assist and a team-high seven ground balls.

Explorers' goalkeeper Jake Krone made eight saves in the nets.

Hudson had a 44-31 in ground balls and outshot the Polar Bears 50-25. Jackson won 15 of 23 face-offs.
