Hudson boys lacrosse team advances to state semifinals

The second-seeded Hudson boys lacrosse team earned a 15-9 victory over top-seeded Solon in the Northeast Ohio Division I regional title game May 31 at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's Royals Stadium.

With the win, the Explorers (15-4), winners of eight straight matches, earn a date with Upper Arlington, a 15-2 winner over North Canton Hoover, in the Division I state semifinals June 4 at Denison University in Granville. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Bo Lori led Hudson with six goals and Explorers goalkeeper Jake Krone made 16 saves.

Sam Gregory added two goals and Mick Mougey had one goal and four assists.

Michael Charlton and Reid Robinson each had one goal and one assist and Brent Zubal, Kyle Ator, Gabe Vehar and Grant Elffers each had one assist. Zach Nye added one assist.

Chris Motter finished with a game-high 21 ground balls.

Hudson outshot the Comets 55-37 and had a 53-27 advantage in ground balls.

The Explorers won 23 of 28 face-offs.
