Rugby team falls in

state semifinals

The Hudson Rugby Club Division I boys team concluded a stellar season with a 33-5 loss to Lakewood St. Edward in a Division I state semifinal contest May 24 at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati.

With the loss, Hudson finished 6-4 in 2014. Jared Ruffing, the state's leading scorer in Division I, had one try for Hudson.

Gradert signs

Hudson resident Ben Gradert, a senior at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, recently signed to continue his academic and soccer careers at Gordon College in Wenham, Mass.

In 2013, Gradert earned Division II second-team All-Ohio honors as well as all-district honors. He helped the Royals reach the Division II state championship game in 2012.

Gradert will join teammate Tim Andrasssy, a Hudson resident, and three other CVCA alums on the Gordon College men's soccer team.

Run in Medina

The Medina Half-Marathon and 5K is set for May 31.
