The Hudson boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Nordonia Division I district meet May 21 at Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.
The boys team was in third place after the first day of competition with 18 points.
The girls team was tied for 11th with one point.
The meet was scheduled to conclude May 23 at Boliantz Stadium. Final results of the second day were not available at press time.
John Brandon is heading to the regional competition after placing first in the discus. He had a toss of 177 feet, 5 inches to qualify.
The top four individuals in each event and the top four relay teams advance to the Austintown regional meet May 28 and 30. The competition is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. both days.
The boys' 3,200-meter relay team of Doni Moffa, Adam Green, Kyle Mau and Gavin Gaynor finished second with a time of 7 minutes, 54.53 seconds.
Twinsburg took first in a time of 7:53.02.
Gaynor and Connor Sinko qualified for the finals in the 1,600.
The girls' 3,200 relay team of Arielle Dalea, Victoria Breeden, Sarah Wolanske and Gabby Palazzo finished eighth (9:49.12).
Qualifying for finals for the girls were Natalie Barnett in the 400, Dalea in the 800, Palazzo in the 1,600 and Lauren Gorze in the 300 hurdles.
Hudson resident Connor Murphy of Walsh Jesuit was a member of the third-place 3,200 relay (8:00.5).
He also qualified for the final in the 800 and as a member of the 1,600 relay.
