The host Hudson softball team improved to 9-14 overall after posting a 10-2 victory over Elyria Catholic May 21.
Senior right-hander Shayna Smith concluded her pitching career with a win in the circle. She gave up four hits and one earned runs and face 26 batters.
The standout hurler had nine strikeouts.
"It was a great way for her to finish as a pitcher at Hudson," first-year Lady Explorers head coach Don Sewell said.
Nicole Means led the way with three hits, including a double.
The Lady Explorers fell to 3-6 in the Northeast Ohio Conference River Division after losing a 6-4 decision to Solon May 19 on the road.
Right-hander Nikki Turner came in the game as a reliever in the first inning. She got out of a base-loaded jam with two strikeouts and struck out 12 batters.Means had three hits.
Hudson was scheduled to conclude the season with a home date against River Division rival Mayfield May 23. Results were not available at press time.
