Hudson girls lacrosse team routs Stow-Munroe Falls

Staff report

It was a convincing win over a next-door neighbor.

But it wasn't all peaches and cream for the Hudson girls lacrosse team.

The Lady Explorers improved to 9-6 with a lopsided 16-4 victory over Stow-Munroe Falls May 5 at Hudson Memorial Stadium.

Unfortunately, there was some bad news.

Defender Ally Prosser, who finished with one goal and four draw controls, had to leave the game after a collision.

"Ally Prosser took a charge, which was a great defensive play on her end," Hudson head coach Joya Mitchell said. "As she was standing her ground, the Stow player's head collided with her lip.

"She ended up getting five stitches on her top lip. She could potentially be out for the next couple games. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she heals quickly because we need her for the playoffs."

Jackie Kisthardt had five goals and Maria Russell finished with four goals. Kiley Merrill had one goal and six assists and Julia Finkenthal had two goals and one assist.

Maddie Murphy, Maddie Valko and Kayla Miller each finished with one goal and Annie Lori and Katelyn Hill added one assist apiece.

Lady Explorers goalkeeper Cassie Woodward finished with 11 saves.

"A lot of great things happened," Mitchell said. "The defense caused turnover after turnover and the offense executed a lot of their plays accurately."

Hudson honored Russell, Merrill, Miller, Abby Nelson, Olivia Wamelink and Sarah Price on Senior Night.

The Lady Explorers were scheduled to visit Upper Arlington in their regular-season finale May 10. Results were not available at press time.

Fifth-seeded Hudson earned an opening-round bye in the North/Central Region Division I Tournament.

The Lady Explorers are set to host the North Canton Hoover-Delaware Hayes' winner May 14. Game time was not available at press time.
