Girls lacrosse team

wins season debut

The Western Reserve Academy girls lacrosse team earned a 10-8 victory over Rocky River in its season debut April 7 on the road.

Five Hudson residents contributed in the win. McKenna Polak finished with four goals and Sarah Forhan had three goals. Also finding the nets were Maggie Wise, who scored twice, and Zoe Leciejewski.

Goalkeeper Ashleigh Groves made 18 saves.

The Pioneers were scheduled to visit Hawken April 10 in Gates Mills before returning home to play Kent Roosevelt April 11. Results of those contests were not available at press time.

Reserve is set to host the Aquinas Institute (N.Y.) April 15 at 4:30 p.m.

Camp offered

Western Reserve Academy is scheduled to host its annual All Star Lacrosse Clinic June 16 through June 20.

The camp will be for boys and girls, from fourth grade through high school. The cost is $275.

Daily sessions run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Individual instruction includes team play and basic stick skills.

Boys fall to St. Ignatius

The Western Reserve Academy boys lacrosse team lost a 6-5 decision to 2013 Division I state semifinalist St. Ignatius April 9 in Cleveland.

The Pioneers (0-3) were scheduled to visit Brother Rice (Mich.) April 12. Results of those games were not available at press time.

They are set to play at the University of Detroit April 13 at 2 p.m. before returning home to play Lakewood St. Edward April 16 at 5:30 p.m.
